My favorite sushi place in the South Bay Area. The fish is always fresh and you can't go wrong ordering from the fresh fish of the day menu. Often they'll be seasoned or with something extra like ponzu to make it even more umami. Line can get VERY long so I'd recommend going early.

This place never disappoints. They serve great food for fair rates, there no long wait even when the place is busy.

Best sushi in the Bay Area hands down. I always get the chef's special Omakase and I'm never disappointed!

I was introduced to Sushi Sams by a few friends and we sat by the bar. I was impressed by the diversity of the menu and taste of everything. The cold/ hot sushi from the Omakase are all incredible and decent portions. The desserts were very good too. Most unique is the exciting and family atmosphere here from the staff. They are like family and like to joke and gab with the customers and each other.Sam and his nephew are great and so is this restaurant. Would recommend for a fun night with friends!

Best Sushi Restaurant in San Mateo, and possibly the bay area. Its not even the quality of their fish that I can talk about. I can get down to the warmth of the rice, the crispness of their seaweed. This place knows what its doing, and most people know this in San Mateo. For that reason, it is busy all the time.

Super popular sushi spot in San Mateo. Affordable and fast (when you finally sit down after a long wait), but donÒ€ℒt expect high quality sushi. Their omakase is 8 pieces of sushi plus dessert for $54 but the quality of the fish is not great. I liked the dragon roll 🀣 you get what you pay for! We came just before 5pm opening time and had to wait for about an hour for the second seating.

We ordered the okamashe sushi to try out the chef's choices and it was superb. I hadn't had sushi this carefully picked and flavorful since my last visit to Japan. This became my instant favorite sushi restaurant in the Bay Area.

Reasonably priced! High turnover! Everything tastes super fresh and really nice people working here! Not to mention the fresh made desserts! I live in the city and travel to sushi Sam when I get a hankering!

Best sushi in San Mateo. Staffs are professional. Ask questions about fish and they can give you a recommendation based on your appetite!

My family took me here. There are some other really nice sushi places nearby and some that have Michelin stars but I was told the best bang for your buck is Sam's. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The seared toro was top notch. They have a great selection of fish and great service.

Great traditional sushi, most of the fish comes daily from Japan by plane. After 18 years in Japan and having tried _many_ sushi places, I give it a solid 5/5.
